About the role

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is seeking a Director for Northern Ireland to lead the delivery of its Heritage 2033 strategy across the region. Based in Belfast with hybrid working, you will shape how heritage funding supports communities, places and people.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement the Heritage 2033 approach for Northern Ireland in line with the Fund’s Board and Executive guidance.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with government, cultural organisations, and community groups throughout the region.
• Manage a team of approximately 12 staff, ensuring coordinated delivery of grant‑making, business support and investment functions.
• Oversee an annual grant budget of around £11 million, including case management, delegated decisions and performance monitoring.
• Collaborate with Business Delivery, the Heritage Fund and Memorial Fund to ensure integrated activity.
• Allocate roughly 10 % of time to cross‑departmental projects that advance the Fund’s wider objectives.

Required profile

• Significant senior leadership experience, preferably within the public, heritage or grant‑making sector.
• Proven ability to manage sizeable budgets and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong track record of building effective partnerships with external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, accessible heritage for diverse communities.
