Director of Civil Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Director of Civil Engineering to establish and lead a new office in Bristol. Backed by a well‑known consultancy, you will have the autonomy to shape the business, build a high‑performing team and drive growth across infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and grow a civil engineering practice in Bristol.
• Lead the delivery of infrastructure, highways and drainage schemes.
• Develop and nurture client relationships to secure new work.
• Oversee recruitment, mentoring and development of the engineering team.
• Contribute to strategic decisions, financial performance and profit‑and‑loss management.
• Represent the business at industry events and networking functions.

Required profile

• Established civil engineer with a strong reputation and local contacts.
• Proven experience in business development and client relationship management.
• Background in infrastructure, highways or drainage design.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
