Director of Management Information Systems (MIS)

About the role

The College is looking for a senior leader to direct its Management Information Systems function. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will shape the data strategy, ensure funding compliance and deliver insight that underpins key organisational decisions across the Further Education institution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the College’s MIS function, overseeing accurate and timely delivery of management information.
• Ensure compliance and timely submission of ILR, ESFA, OfS and other statutory returns.
• Maximise funding through robust data management and regulatory compliance.
• Produce strategic reports and business intelligence to support senior leadership.
• Act as the primary contact for learner funding audits, external auditors and inspectors.
• Oversee MIS systems development, reporting and digital services.
• Support curriculum planning with accurate data analysis and funding expertise.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in MIS within a Further Education College.
• Extensive knowledge of ILR, ESFA funding rules and learner funding compliance.
• Experience managing statutory funding returns and learner data.
• Strong analytical ability to turn data into business insight.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A degree or relevant professional qualification (management qualification advantageous).

Required skills

• Knowledge of ILR, ESFA, OfS reporting requirements.
• Experience with MIS system development and digital reporting tools.
