About the role
The Director of People and Culture will lead the transformation of workplace culture across NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde, ensuring staff feel valued, supported and included. This senior role sits on the Executive Team and also carries system‑wide responsibility for the Subnational West region.
Key responsibilities
- Shape and embed organisational culture aligned with the board’s values.
- Improve everyday staff experience and champion inclusion across a workforce of over 42,000.
- Lead strategic workforce planning for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and for the Subnational West region (seven NHS boards, 100,000+ staff).
- Collaborate with chief executives, the Scottish Government, trade unions and professional bodies to influence workforce policy.
- Drive system‑wide initiatives without direct line management, building consensus across organisational and geographic boundaries.
- Develop and communicate a compelling employee value proposition to attract and retain talent.
Required profile
- Proven senior HR or people‑strategy leadership experience in large, complex organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate political and organisational complexity and to build collaborative partnerships.
- Strong change‑leadership capability with a track record of delivering cultural transformation.
- Experience working with public‑sector stakeholders, including government and unions.
