Director of Performance

About the role

British Rowing is looking for an inspirational, values‑led leader to shape the culture of its world‑leading performance programme. Working closely with the CEO, the Director of Performance will create an environment where athletes and staff can thrive and achieve medal‑winning outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, measure and evolve the cultural environment as a core component of the performance system.
• Collaborate with the CEO and senior stakeholders to align culture with strategic objectives.
• Steward the culture of the GB Rowing Team, ensuring it supports athlete development, coach effectiveness, innovation and medal success.
• Manage significant budgets and oversee governance processes.
• Lead partnerships with multiple stakeholders, volunteers and external organisations.

Required profile

• Proven ability to build and lead a modern high‑performance culture prioritising people, wellbeing and long‑term success.
• Experience leading elite sport environments at the highest level, preferably with rowing or Olympic/Paralympic expertise.
• Deep understanding of coaching, sport science, medicine, technology, international competition and talent pathways.
• Strategic thinker with exceptional planning, leadership and organisational skills.
• Resilience, stamina and flexibility in high‑pressure environments.
