Director of Student Support & Inclusion

About the role

Havant and South Downs College is seeking a strategic, values‑driven leader to become its Director of Student Support & Inclusion. Reporting to the Deputy Principal – Curriculum & Quality, you will shape the college’s whole student support ecosystem, ensuring every learner receives the guidance, resources and confidence needed to succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for student support, inclusion and pastoral services across all campuses.
• Develop and integrate an inclusive support model covering Tutorial, Student Progress Mentors, Careers, SEND, Additional Learning Support, Teaching Assistants, Student Services, Student Union, Enrichment, Safeguarding and Wellbeing.
• Oversee the quality assurance of the Tutorial Model to boost attendance, personal development, employability and progression.
• Ensure statutory compliance and high‑quality provision for SEND and Additional Learning Support.
• Lead data‑driven interventions through the Student Progress Mentor function to improve attendance, engagement and outcomes.
• Collaborate with curriculum and professional services teams to embed proactive, evidence‑informed support.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in education or further‑education student support, inclusion or pastoral services.
• Proven ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and drive strategic change.
• Strong understanding of statutory requirements for SEND and additional learning support.
• Demonstrated experience using data to inform interventions and improve student outcomes.
