Director – Town Planning

About the role

Penguin Recruitment is supporting a leading UK planning, development economics and design consultancy in hiring a Director of Town Planning. This senior leadership role will drive the growth of the London office, build a strong client base and shape the strategic direction of the business.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and deliver complex planning projects across multiple sectors.
• Develop and expand a robust client portfolio in London and the wider South East.
• Identify, secure and manage new business opportunities.
• Provide strategic planning advice to high‑profile clients.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external consultants.
• Contribute to overall business strategy and growth plans.

Required profile

• Extensive planning experience within a consultancy or similar environment.
• MRTPI qualification.
• Proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
• Ability to win work and build a pipeline of projects.
• Deep knowledge of UK planning legislation and policy.
• Strong leadership and project management capabilities.
• Confident communicator with high‑level client engagement experience.
