Dispensing Optician (or Trainee) – Full/Part Time

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Dispensing Optician or a trainee to join our independent practices in Medway and Tonbridge. The position offers a supportive, patient‑focused environment with the flexibility to work full‑time or part‑time across one or both locations.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality dispensing services, including handling complex prescriptions.
• Take precise measurements to ensure accurate lens fitting and comfort.
• Advise patients on frame styling, lens options, coatings and after‑care.
• Carry out fittings, adjustments and minor repairs.
• Support the Optometrist throughout the patient journey.
• Assist with training and supervision of Optical Assistants when required.
• Manage orders, liaise with laboratories and maintain accurate records.

Required profile

• Qualified Dispensing Optician, Pre‑Reg DO, or experienced Optical Assistant seeking progression.
• Strong dispensing skills with a patient‑focused approach.
• Confident communication and ability to build rapport with customers.
• Interest in working within an independent practice setting.

What we offer

• Salary £28,000–£31,000 depending on experience.
