District Nurse Specialist Practitioner – Full‑time, Clydebank

About the role

This full‑time, permanent position is within the West Dunbartonshire District Nursing Team, delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care to patients in their homes and communities. As an autonomous District Nurse Specialist Practitioner, you will lead a diverse caseload, support the nursing team and collaborate with multidisciplinary partners to improve outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a defined district nursing caseload, ensuring safe and effective person‑centred care.
• Provide skilled clinical interventions and act as the clinical expert in community nursing practice.
• Coordinate workload, prioritise care needs and respond to both planned and urgent unscheduled requests.
• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, patients and carers to plan and deliver holistic care.
• Delegate, supervise and support team members to maintain high standards of practice.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with professional, legal and organisational standards.
• Contribute to service improvement, audit, education and the ongoing development of the district nursing team.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC registration in Adult Nursing.
• Specialist Practitioner qualification in District Nursing at Master's level or equivalent.
• Independent Prescribing qualification and advanced clinical assessment skills.
• Demonstrable leadership and management experience within a community or primary‑care setting.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to lifelong learning.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

• Proficiency with electronic patient record systems.
