Domestic Abuse Support Worker (IDVA) – Hybrid, 3‑month contract

About the role

Changing Pathways is looking for an experienced Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to provide vital support to individuals affected by domestic abuse across the Essex area. The role is primarily remote with regular community visits, allowing you to work independently while managing a caseload of low to medium‑risk clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of low to medium‑risk domestic abuse clients, delivering emotional and practical support.
• Develop safety plans and conduct risk assessments tailored to each client.
• Carry out community‑based appointments and home visits in Basildon, Harlow, Epping, Brentwood and occasional visits to Thurrock.
• Maintain accurate, confidential case records using the Oasis case management system.
• Signpost and refer clients to statutory and voluntary services and liaise with partner agencies.
• Adhere to safeguarding procedures and organisational policies while working independently.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience supporting victims or survivors of domestic abuse.
• Previous experience in an IDVA or similar role.
• Ability to work autonomously in a remote and community‑based setting.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle or reliable transport.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Oasis case management system.

What we offer

• £15.00 per hour plus holiday pay.

• Initial three‑month contract with the possibility of extension based on performance.
