Domestic Assistant – Hospital

About the role

The Domestic Assistant will join the Domestic Services Department at Ayrshire Central Hospital, providing essential housekeeping and cleaning support to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This is a permanent, part‑time position working evenings from Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of cleaning and housekeeping duties throughout the hospital, including patient areas, corridors, and communal spaces.
• Use and maintain industrial cleaning equipment to ensure high‑standard cleanliness.
• Follow infection‑control procedures and NHS cleaning protocols.
• Adapt to changing priorities based on staffing levels and hospital activity.
• Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate department.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to handle the demands of a healthcare cleaning role.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and schedules.

Required skills

• Experience with industrial cleaning equipment (preferred but training provided).
