Domestic Assistant (Internal Applicants Only)

About the role

We are looking for a Domestic Assistant to join the Domestic Services Department at Ayrshire Central Hospital. This permanent, part‑time role involves delivering high‑standard housekeeping and cleaning services within a busy healthcare environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a range of cleaning and housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
• Operate industrial cleaning equipment as required.
• Follow infection‑control procedures and NHS cleanliness standards.
• Adapt to changing priorities across the North Sector premises.
• Collaborate with team members and work independently when needed.

Required profile

• Physically fit and able to meet the demands of a cleaning role.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to respond to shifting workload and staffing needs.
• Willingness to undergo full training provided by the NHS.

Required skills

• Experience with industrial cleaning equipment (advantageous but not essential).
• Previous experience in a healthcare cleaning setting (advantageous).
