Domiciliary Optometrist – Central Scotland

About the role

Join a progressive domiciliary eye‑care provider delivering high‑quality eye examinations in care homes across Central Scotland. You will work independently in a supportive environment, helping older and vulnerable patients maintain their vision and quality of life.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough eye examinations within care‑home settings.
• Perform refraction and recommend appropriate eyewear.
• Identify changes in vision, recognise pathology and make referrals.
• Support patients with anxiety or communication difficulties.
• Maintain accurate, paper‑less records.
• Collaborate with a dedicated Optical Assistant and the wider clinical team.
• Deliver commercially sustainable clinics without compromising patient care.

Required profile

• GOC‑registered Optometrist.
• Compassionate and comfortable working with older, vulnerable patients.
• Excellent communicator, organised and reliable.
• Commercially aware while maintaining an ethical, patient‑first approach.
• Comfortable using technology and paper‑less systems.
• Ability to manage time independently and work autonomously.
• Coachable and open to a different approach to domiciliary eye‑care.

Required skills

• Use of portable autorefractor.
• Operation of slit lamp.
• Use of iCare tonometer.
• Digital test chart proficiency.

• Basic salary starting from £50,000 FTE.
• Potential total earnings of £63,000–£85,000 (performance‑related).
