Driver – Transport Services

About the role

The NHS Highland Transport Department is seeking a qualified Driver to support the delivery of essential items across the Highland region. You will operate vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, ensuring timely distribution of laundry, mail, medical equipment, specimens and supplies to hospitals, GP practices, health centres and care homes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver laundry, mail, medical equipment, specimens and supplies to a range of NHS facilities.
• Operate Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) up to 7.5 tonnes safely and efficiently.
• Comply with transport regulations, Health & Safety, COSHH, Road Risk and Moving & Handling regulations.
• Maintain professional interaction with transport staff, customers and the local community.

Required profile

• Experienced driver familiar with relevant transport and safety regulations.
• Organised, highly motivated with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good knowledge of the local and Highland areas.
• Valid Category B driving licence (Category C1 preferred) and ability to drive up to 7.5 tonne LGV.

Required skills

• Category B driving licence (Category C1 preferred).
• Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) – up‑to‑date preferred.
• Valid tachograph digicard.
• Knowledge of COSHH, Road Risk and Moving & Handling regulations.
