DT Technician – Design & Technology Workshop Support

About the role

This role supports the Design & Technology department of a thriving North London school, focusing on Resistant Materials and Graphics. The DT Technician ensures practical lessons run smoothly, maintains workshop safety, and assists teachers and students in the workshop environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare tools, materials and resources for Resistant Materials and Graphics lessons.
• Maintain and service workshop machinery and specialist CAD/CAM equipment.
• Carry out routine health and safety checks on all equipment.
• Monitor stock levels, order supplies and keep storage areas organised.
• Support teachers during practical sessions and assist students as needed.
• Contribute to the day‑to‑day running of the DT department’s workshops.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a DT Technician or in a Design & Technology workshop.
• Fully trained and competent with CAD/CAM equipment.
• Relevant DT health & safety training and an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong organisational and communication abilities.
• Right to work in the UK.
