DT Technician – Secondary School (Hillingdon) – Sep 2026

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Design & Technology (DT) Technician to join a well‑resourced secondary school in Hillingdon from September 2026. You will work hands‑on in a vibrant workshop environment, supporting teachers and students to deliver safe, engaging practical lessons across a range of DT disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare materials, tools and equipment for each DT lesson.
• Provide technical support for specialist areas such as Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering, Graphics and Construction.
• Maintain, service and organise workshop machinery, tools and equipment, ensuring they are safe and compliant.
• Carry out regular health‑and‑safety checks, risk assessments and COSHH compliance.
• Monitor stock levels, order supplies and keep the workshop clean and orderly.
• Assist teachers and students during practical sessions and help create prototypes and project displays.
• Support departmental administration as required.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a DT Technician or in a design, engineering, manufacturing or construction workshop.
• Strong organisational ability and attention to detail.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures, including COSHH.

• Operating workshop machinery safely.
• Maintaining and servicing tools and equipment.
• Conducting health‑and‑safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Managing stock and ordering workshop supplies.
• Applying COSHH regulations in a school setting.
