Duty Manager – Leisure Centre

About the role

GLL is seeking a proactive Duty Manager to oversee daily operations at Southbury Leisure Centre in Enfield. The role combines hands‑on facility management with customer‑focused service, ensuring the gym, pool and other amenities run smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Open and close the centre, prepare areas and equipment for sessions.
• Monitor security, cleanliness, health‑and‑safety standards and equipment checks.
• Handle customer enquiries, resolve issues and promote a welcoming environment.
• Supervise and allocate tasks to staff on shift, ensuring efficient service delivery.
• Manage stock, order supplies and maintain resource‑optimisation plans.
• Support the planning and delivery of special programmes such as charity swimathons and community activities.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar managerial role within a leisure or sports facility.
• Strong communication and people‑management skills.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and make quick decisions.
• Commitment to health‑and‑safety best practices.

Required skills

• Relevant qualifications such as NPLQ, First Aid, Fitness Instructor or Pool Plant certification (or equivalent).
