DWS Maintenance Engineer (EICA)

About the role

South West Water is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer (EICA) to join its Drinking Water Services team. The role is part of a flexible regional MEICA team responsible for the reliability and performance of critical drinking water assets across operational sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance, regulatory inspections and reactive maintenance on drinking water assets.
• Plan, coordinate and implement maintenance programmes and site improvement projects.
• Install, commission and fault‑find instrumentation, control, automation and electrical systems.
• Provide technical support for mechanical maintenance, commissioning and asset performance improvements.
• Investigate equipment failures, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.
• Support reliability, efficiency and optimisation of treatment and distribution assets.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, procedures and work instructions.
• Assist operational and craft maintenance teams with technical expertise and troubleshooting.

Required profile

• Experienced engineer with a strong problem‑solving mindset.
• Ability to work closely with operational teams, external partners and other engineers.
• Good understanding of drinking water treatment and distribution processes.
• Commitment to health, safety and regulatory compliance.
