EAL Higher Level Teaching Assistant

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic EAL Higher‑Level Teaching Assistant to join Duke’s Aldridge Academy, a vibrant 11‑16 secondary school in Tottenham. Working closely with teachers, you will support the learning journey of EAL students, helping them achieve their full potential in a diverse and inclusive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide targeted one‑to‑one and small‑group support for EAL learners, adapting resources to meet individual needs.
• Assist teachers in planning and delivering lessons, stepping in to lead sessions when required.
• Monitor and record student progress, contributing to assessment and feedback processes.
• Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive learning atmosphere.
• Collaborate with the wider pastoral and SEN teams to support additional needs.

Required profile

• Qualified teaching assistant holding HLTA status or working towards it.
• Experience supporting EAL learners in a secondary school setting.
• Strong communication and organisational abilities.
• Patience, enthusiasm and a commitment to student success.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
