EAL Support Mentor – Secondary School (Enfield)

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic EAL Support Mentor to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in Enfield. The role starts in September and is focused on helping KS3 and KS4 learners whose first language is not English to develop confidence and academic progress.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver targeted language interventions for individual and small‑group settings.
- Provide in‑class support, adapting learning materials where needed.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure curriculum accessibility.
- Monitor and record students’ language development.
- Encourage confidence and participation both inside and outside the classroom.
Required profile
- Recognised TESOL, TEFL or CELTA qualification (or equivalent).
- Previous experience supporting EAL learners in a secondary school environment.
- Strong communication skills and cultural awareness.
- Patience, enthusiasm and a passion for helping multilingual learners succeed.
