Early Shift Mail Sorter – North West Hub

About the role

Join the Royal Mail North West Hub as an Early Shift Mail Sorter. This temporary, full‑time position works in a fast‑moving parcel environment, supporting critical inbound and outbound operations.

Key responsibilities

• Unload pallets and loose‑load trailers, positioning parcels onto tipper and boom conveyors.
• Operate manual or electric pallet trucks to move pallets into holding areas.
• Scan parcels, ensuring barcodes face upwards and are correctly placed.
• Run small and large chutes to sort parcels into Yorks for dispatch.
• Label parcels, replace full containers with empty ones, and keep the flow of the system uninterrupted.

Required profile

• Reliable, punctual and able to work the full early‑shift pattern (Tue‑Sat).
• Physically capable of lifting mail bags up to 11 kg, parcels up to 30 kg and pushing trolleys/Yorks up to 250 kg.
• Comfortable standing and walking for long periods.
• Flexible and attentive to detail.

Required skills

• Operation of tipper and boom conveyors.
• Use of MHE pallet trucks (manual/electric).
• Parcel scanning and barcode handling.
• Chute and container handling for parcel sorting.
