Early Years Practitioner – Nursery/Reception (Full‑Time)

About the role

We are seeking a passionate Early Years Practitioner to join our mainstream primary school in Newham. Working in either the Nursery or Reception class, you will help children thrive during the crucial early stages of their education.

Key responsibilities

• Support teaching and learning within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Deliver engaging, play‑based activities alongside the class teacher.
• Provide targeted support for individuals and small groups.
• Promote early reading, phonics, writing, communication and numeracy development.
• Encourage social, emotional and behavioural growth.
• Maintain a stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environment.
• Observe progress and contribute to learning journeys and assessments.
• Uphold safeguarding, welfare and health‑and‑safety procedures.

Required profile

• Level 2, Level 3 or an Early Years degree (or equivalent qualification).
• Experience working with children in a nursery or reception setting.
• Enthusiasm for creating a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.
• Commitment to supporting each child’s development and wellbeing.

Required skills

• Knowledge of the EYFS framework.
• Ability to plan and deliver play‑based learning activities.
• Strong observation and assessment skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding and health‑and‑safety policies.
