Early Years SEN Teacher – Support Children with Autism

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Early Years SEN Teacher to join a well‑established special‑needs school in Enfield. The role supports pupils around 10 years old who are working at Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 developmental levels, providing a sensory‑rich curriculum in a supportive environment.

Key responsibilities

• Teach a small class of approximately six pupils, delivering a curriculum tailored to EYFS and KS1 developmental needs.
• Implement sensory‑based activities and use communication tools such as Makaton, PECS, AAC systems and visual timetables.
• Support pupils with autism, sensory processing challenges, communication difficulties and attention needs.
• Focus on developing communication, social interaction, emotional regulation and independence.
• Collaborate closely with teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists and other specialist staff.
• Create a calm, structured and engaging learning environment.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with primary or early years teaching experience.
• Passion for supporting children with additional needs.
• Patient, nurturing and adaptable teaching style.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Commitment to the holistic development of every child.
