Early Years Teaching Assistant

About the role

Join a large, welcoming primary school in Ashton‑under‑Lyne as an Early Years Teaching Assistant. You will support the Early Years team in delivering high‑quality, play‑based learning for young children during term time.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the class teacher in delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum.
• Work with individuals and small groups to develop communication, language, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Create stimulating indoor and outdoor learning environments.
• Support children’s personal, social and emotional development.
• Observe, monitor and record progress against EYFS outcomes.
• Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing through play‑led activities.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a nursery or reception setting.
• Good understanding of the EYFS framework.
• Patient, caring and positive attitude.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Early Years qualification.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs.
