About the role
Join Birketts LLP’s Ecclesiastical Team in Bristol as a Solicitor/Associate/Senior Associate, managing a diverse portfolio of church‑related property matters. You will provide expert legal advice on complex transactions and support the Church of England’s dioceses, clergy and lay volunteers.
Key responsibilities
- Manage property transactions including sales of land, church halls and clergy housing.
- Create and establish titles from historic documentation.
- Resolve complex property issues across multiple church‑related charities.
- Handle commercial property matters such as lease grants, extensions, renewals and surrenders.
- Advise on and grant easements.
- Provide guidance on boundary issues and parish land ownership, including churches, churchyards and church halls.
- Serve statutory notices in accordance with the Church Property Measure.
Required profile
- Qualified solicitor with experience in ecclesiastical or property law.
- Proven ability to manage a varied caseload of complex property transactions.
- Familiarity with the Church Property Measure and related statutory requirements.
