EC&I Technician

About the role

We are seeking an EC&I Technician to join a specialist engineering team delivering critical infrastructure for the energy, petrochemical and process sectors. Based at our Chichester site, you will support the Electrical Design Engineer through the full project lifecycle, from design through to factory acceptance testing and on‑site commissioning.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and review 2‑D electrical design documentation in AutoCAD, including cable schedules, termination diagrams and schematics.
• Prepare process control documents such as I/O schedules, cause‑and‑effect diagrams and test schedules.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams and control philosophy documents to inform design decisions.
• Specify components, switchgear, instrumentation, cables and electrical containment; generate BoMs and supplier quotations.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) at customer locations.
• Maintain knowledge of relevant standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 80079‑34) and ATEX requirements.

Required profile

• Strong interest in a career in electrical and instrumentation engineering.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a close‑knit team.
• Excellent time‑management and the capacity to handle multiple project tasks under pressure.
• Awareness of quality, safety, environmental and explosive‑atmosphere standards.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD LT or equivalent 2‑D design software.
• Understanding of PLC programming and HMI configuration.
• Familiarity with variable speed drives (VSD).
• Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
