Ecologist – Ecological Consultancy (Shaftesbury)

About the role

We are seeking a driven Ecologist to join a well‑established ecological consultancy based near Shaftesbury, Dorset. The role offers the chance to work on a diverse portfolio of projects across southern England, ranging from small‑scale developments to large infrastructure schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct ecological field surveys, including protected‑species assessments.
• Prepare detailed ecological reports and habitat assessments.
• Support clients through planning and licensing processes.
• Travel to sites across southern England and provide on‑site expertise.

Required profile

• Relevant degree in ecology or a related environmental discipline.
• At least two seasons of experience in ecological consultancy.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
• Protected‑species licence (e.g., bat, great crested newt) is desirable but not essential.

Required skills

• Field surveys for protected species.
• Report writing and clear communication of findings.
• Habitat assessment techniques.
