Ecologist – Environmental Consultancy (Portsmouth)

About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic Ecologist to join a specialist environmental consultancy based near Portsmouth. The role involves delivering ecological services across residential, industrial, infrastructure and habitat restoration projects, from initial assessment through to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct a range of ecological field surveys on client sites across the South East region.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and ecological assessments to support planning applications.
• Liaise with clients, stakeholders and regulatory bodies regarding ecological findings and mitigation measures.
• Assist in the development of ecological mitigation plans and licensing documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with UK wildlife legislation.

Required profile

• Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in ecological consultancy or a similar role.
• Strong written communication and organisational abilities.
• Full UK driving licence and the right to work in the UK.
• Residence within reasonable commuting distance of Portsmouth.

Required skills

• Knowledge of protected species surveys.
• Understanding of UK wildlife legislation.
