Education Liaison Social Worker (Locum)

About the role

The London Borough of Hounslow is seeking an experienced Locum Social Worker to act as an Education Liaison. In this newly developed position you will sit at the heart of safeguarding and early help, linking children’s social care with schools and education providers to ensure timely, appropriate support.

Key responsibilities

• Provide safeguarding consultation and professional advice to schools and education settings.
• Support education professionals in understanding thresholds and making high‑quality referrals.
• Represent Front Door & Early Help at school cluster meetings, DSL forums, safeguarding briefings and partnership events.
• Contribute to the Vulnerable Children in Education Group, addressing persistent absence and other vulnerable groups.
• Collaborate with education, health, police and wider partners to promote early intervention and positive outcomes.
• Maintain accurate, analytical and defensible case records and signpost families to local services.

Required profile

• Registered with Social Work England.
• Significant post‑qualification experience within Children’s Social Care.
• Excellent knowledge of safeguarding legislation, thresholds and statutory guidance.
• Proven ability to work effectively with schools and multi‑agency partners.
• Confidence in providing consultation, advice and professional challenge.
• Strong communication, relationship‑building and presentation skills.
