Education Outreach & Inclusion Practitioner

About the role
This position offers a rewarding chance to support secondary‑aged pupils across North and Mid Essex who face barriers to education. You will work within an established outreach and inclusion team, helping young people re‑engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one and small‑group interventions for pupils at risk of exclusion or poor attendance.
- Collaborate with school staff, families and external professionals to improve educational and wellbeing outcomes.
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience and emotional wellbeing using trauma‑informed approaches.
- Design and implement bespoke intervention programmes tailored to individual needs.
- Build trusted relationships with pupils, encouraging confidence and personal development.
- Maintain accurate records, reports and intervention plans.
- Attend meetings with schools, parents and multi‑agency teams as required.
- Travel regularly between partner schools across the region.
Required profile
- Passionate about supporting young people and experienced in roles such as pastoral support, behaviour mentoring, inclusion support, learning mentorship, family support, youth work, alternative provision, SEMH, teaching assistance or student support.
- Experience working with pupils who have SEMH, SEND, behavioural or social needs.
- Understanding of trauma‑informed practice or willingness to adopt this approach.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing a varied caseload.
- Confidence collaborating with schools, families and external agencies.
- Strong organisational skills.
