EHC Co-ordinator – Mediation Support (Temporary)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced EHC Co‑ordinator to support mediation activity for school‑aged children within Hertfordshire County Council. The role is temporary (3 months) and hybrid, working closely with families, education professionals and internal casework teams to achieve timely, high‑quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare for mediation meetings by reviewing EHC Plans, case histories and the Local Authority position.
• Liaise with families and professionals ahead of mediation to clarify disputed issues.
• Attend and lead mediation meetings, representing the Local Authority professionally.
• Record outcomes and agreed actions, ensuring they are communicated to relevant parties.
• Work with casework teams to progress agreed amendments and actions promptly.
• Promote consistency in Local Authority responses and share learning across cases.

Required profile

• Proven experience working within SEND and the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
• Strong knowledge of EHCP legislation, especially Sections B, F and I.
• Experience preparing for and attending mediation meetings or dispute resolution in a SEND setting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational ability to manage a busy caseload within statutory timescales.
• Previous experience in a Local Authority environment is desirable.
