EHS Specialist – Health & Safety

About the role

The Health & Safety Specialist will support the implementation and day‑to‑day management of health & safety systems at CooperSurgical’s manufacturing site in Falmouth, Cornwall. Working closely with site leadership and the wider EHS team, the role ensures compliance with UK legislation, promotes safe working practices and helps build a positive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Support implementation of health & safety policies, procedures and programmes at the site.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and safety tours, report findings and track corrective actions.
• Maintain risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work, including machinery safety, COSHH, PPE and manual handling.
• Assist with incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis and performance reporting.
• Deliver and coordinate health & safety training, inductions and competency records.
• Support emergency planning, fire safety, first‑aid arrangements and evacuation drills.

Required profile

• NEBOSH General Certificate, IOSH Managing Safely, or working towards a recognised H&S qualification.
• 1–3 years of health & safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Basic to intermediate knowledge of UK health & safety legislation.
• Willingness to spend time on the shop floor and engage with operational teams.
