Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Bias Maintenance Engineer to join the shift engineering team at a leading manufacturing site in Avonmouth. The role operates on a 4‑on/4‑off pattern covering days and nights, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the production facility.

Key responsibilities

• Perform planned and reactive maintenance on conveyors, material handling systems, mixers, blenders, motors, drives, panels and 3‑phase electrical systems.
• Fault‑find and repair electrical components such as relays, contactors, variable speed drives (VSDs) and inverters.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Conduct basic PLC diagnostics and fault finding.
• Maintain mechanical equipment including bearings, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, pipework and pneumatics.
• Service steam boilers, compressed air systems and other utility equipment.
• Carry out welding and fabrication repairs as required.

Required profile

• Electrically biased maintenance background, apprentice‑trained or time‑served engineering experience.
• Previous experience in manufacturing, process or heavy industry.
• Ability to work independently within a shift team.
• Practical, hands‑on and proactive attitude.
• Welding and steam/boiler experience advantageous.
• Project or improvement work experience beneficial.
