Electrical Cable Inspector

About the role

We are looking for an Electrical Cable Inspector to join our team in Portsmouth. The role is full‑time, Monday‑Thursday 7:30 am‑4:00 pm and Friday 7:30 am‑1:00 pm, with occasional extra hours as required. You will work on a busy shop floor, inspecting cable assemblies and supporting the quality pathway towards a Quality Engineer position.

Key responsibilities

• Perform electrical cable inspections and continuity testing on incoming and in‑process assemblies.
• Carry out process inspections, including crimps and soldering quality checks.
• Interpret and verify technical drawings and specifications.
• Document findings, raise queries with customers and communicate results to the production team.
• Maintain compliance with IPC‑620 standards where applicable.

Required profile

• Previous experience in electrical inspection or a similar quality role.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and good communication skills.
• Team‑oriented attitude in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
• Basic computer literacy for data entry and reporting.

Required skills

• Continuity testing of cable assemblies.
• Use of simple measuring tools.
• Process inspection of crimps and soldering.
• Reading technical drawings.
• Familiarity with IPC‑620 standards (preferable).
