Electrical CAD Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical CAD Engineer to produce 2D electrical schematics and interconnection drawings for a fast‑growing manufacturing client in Tyne and Wear. You will work with SolidWorks and AutoCAD to support the Engineering Department’s electrical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Create 2D electrical schematics, panel layout drawings and interconnection diagrams from customer and internal specifications.
• Operate SolidWorks and AutoCAD focusing on electrical control panel design for industrial equipment.
• Collaborate with workshop staff to develop SOPs and streamline electrical equipment design.
• Prepare manufacturing packages, parts lists and Bills of Materials.
• Maintain accurate records using MS Office and database tools.

Required profile

• ONC, HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Ability to work unsupervised and produce detailed electrical drawings.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical specifications.

• MS Office suite – Word, Excel, Access, Outlook
• Electrical control panel design knowledge
• Database and computer literacy for BOM creation
