Electrical Design Engineer – Industrial Automation

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our talented engineering team, creating bespoke automation systems for sectors such as medical devices, aerospace, automotive and advanced manufacturing. You will be involved from concept through to customer acceptance, delivering real impact from day one.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and sales to capture project requirements.
• Develop electrical system architecture and control designs for bespoke machinery.
• Specify industrial control components including PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, robots and VSDs.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring schedules and complete technical documentation.
• Create parts lists, safety specifications, risk assessments and CE documentation.
• Work closely with mechanical, software engineers and project managers to deliver integrated solutions.
• Support manufacturing during assembly and testing.
• Attend factory and site acceptance tests with customers.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing industrial electrical or control systems.
• Strong understanding of electrical and pneumatic design principles.
• Knowledge of UL508A industrial control panels.
• Familiarity with safety software such as Sistema or Pilz.
• Experience with EPLAN or similar electrical design tools.
• Formal qualification in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Design.

Required skills

• PLC programming and hardware (Siemens, Rockwell, Omron, Mitsubishi, B&R).
• Human‑Machine Interface (HMI) design.
• Servo drives and variable speed drives (VSD).
• Robotics integration.
• UL508A compliance.
• Sistema safety software.
• Pilz safety software.
• EPLAN (or equivalent) CAD.
• Knowledge of BS EN60204‑1 and ISO13849 safety standards.
