Electrical Engineer – Control Systems (Bishop's Stortford)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a focus on control systems to join a long‑standing company that designs and manufactures bespoke cleaning solutions for biotech and pharmaceutical sectors. Based in Bishop’s Stortford, you will work on skid‑mounted equipment, control panels and on‑site installations.

Key responsibilities

• Wire skid‑mounted equipment including valves, pumps, heaters and instrumentation.
• Terminate cabling and pneumatic lines in control panels and set up test systems using technical drawings.
• Manufacture, drill and fit control panels, then perform initial testing and commissioning.
• Oversee sub‑contractors to ensure high‑quality installation and compliance.
• Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) from an electrical perspective and keep electrical/process drawings up to date.
• Monitor project milestones, flag missing equipment or tags and ensure readiness for FAT/shipment.
• Conduct PAT testing, electrical stock‑take and report low stock for replenishment.
• Diagnose and rectify workshop electrical faults and support on‑site fault‑finding.

Required profile

• Relevant electrical or controls engineering qualification.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in controls, wiring and panel manufacturing environments.
• Strong ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
• Proficiency with power tools, hand tools and standard engineering hygiene practices.
