Electrical Engineer – Industrial Automation

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our growing engineering team in Oldham. You will report to the Engineering Manager and play a key role in designing, installing, commissioning and supporting electrical control systems for a variety of industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Program, modify and troubleshoot PLCs on a range of control systems.
• Install and commission electrical equipment for industrial machinery and automated systems.
• Test and validate electrical control panels and systems.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical faults on‑site and remotely.
• Support projects from design through to commissioning.
• Produce and update technical documentation as required.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Travel occasionally to customer sites for commissioning and support.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Electrical Engineer, Controls Engineer or Automation Engineer.
• Strong PLC programming experience (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi or similar).
• Proven experience in commissioning and electrical installation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Electrical engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent).
• Excellent communication and customer‑focused approach.
