Electrical Engineer – Manufacturing (Full‑time)

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Electrical Engineer to join our food‑manufacturing plant in Kirkham. You will work closely with production and engineering teams to keep the plant running safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance in line with the CMMS schedule.
• Respond quickly to machinery breakdowns and restore equipment safely.
• Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on ovens, conveyors, mixers, weighers and packaging lines.
• Support line change‑overs and start‑ups to reduce downtime.
• Record all engineering activity in the CMMS.
• Contribute to reliability‑focused continuous improvement projects.
• Assist with equipment upgrades, installations and modifications.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area following 5S principles and adhere to Health & Safety, food hygiene and GMP standards.

Required profile

• Apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering.
• Proven experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment, preferably FMCG or food.
• Strong electrical and mechanical fault‑finding abilities.
• Willingness to work a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern and occasional overtime.

Required skills

• PLC knowledge at fault‑finding level (programming not required).
• Experience using a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
