Electrical Engineer – Renewable Energy (Edinburgh/Hybrid)

About the role
Join a fast‑growing renewable energy developer in Edinburgh, working on high‑impact projects that drive the transition to net‑zero. You will lead the electrical engineering input from concept through delivery, collaborating with a dynamic team of industry experts.
Key responsibilities
- Lead electrical input on early‑stage projects, including feasibility studies, capacity optimisation and layout design.
- Drive grid‑connection applications and negotiate with DNOs and the National Grid.
- Review and challenge connection offers, technical specifications and compliance with G99/G100 and the Grid Code.
- Develop high‑level designs such as single‑line diagrams, protection schemes and earthing systems, defining employer requirements.
- Identify risks, constraints and opportunities that affect project value.
- Manage consultants, OEMs and EPC contractors to ensure technical and commercial alignment.
- Support due‑diligence activities, tender preparation and supplier selection.
Required profile
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in UK renewable, power or energy infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of LV, MV and HV systems and grid‑connection processes.
- Confidence reviewing technical designs and influencing key decisions.
- Commercial awareness with solid engineering judgement.
Required skills
- LV, MV and HV system expertise.
- Grid‑connection knowledge, including G99, G100 and Grid Code compliance.
- Design of single‑line diagrams (SLDs), protection and earthing systems.
- Risk identification and mitigation for electrical projects.
- Management of consultants, OEMs and EPC contractors.
- Due‑diligence and tender support for electrical engineering scope.
