Electrical Engineer – Site Services

About the role

ECG Facilities Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the site‑based engineering team responsible for Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) and Fabric Services at St James Quarter, Edinburgh’s flagship mixed‑use development. You will ensure reliable operation of electrical assets across a high‑footfall retail and leisure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine PPM visits and reactive repairs on internal, external and emergency lighting, distribution boards and related assets.
• Carry out meter readings and weekly sprinkler system bell testing.
• Inspect plant rooms, switchrooms, roof areas and car parks daily/weekly, checking status and cleanliness.
• Accompany subcontractors for PPM or reactive works as required.
• Use a tablet and ECG’s CAFM system to record and complete tasks promptly.
• Develop positive relationships with stakeholders, enhancing ECG’s professional reputation while protecting the client’s brand.
• Collaborate with internal teams including Operations Director, Technical Services Manager, Compliance and Security.

Required profile

• Experience operating in the private FM sector.
• Solid understanding of the SFG20 service specification.
• Excellent customer communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self‑starter able to work independently and as a team player.
• Strong verbal, written and numeric abilities.
• Flexibility to meet the demanding schedule of a world‑class retail and leisure destination.

Required skills

• Electrical maintenance of lighting and distribution systems.
• SFG20 service specification knowledge.
• Proficiency with CAFM (Computer‑Aided Facility Management) software.
