Electrical Estimator

About the role

We are seeking a permanent Electrical Estimator to join a leading manufacturing client near Washington, Gateshead. You will be responsible for producing accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, supporting the sales and engineering teams, and contributing to the company's competitive bidding process.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for projects, covering materials, labour and associated costs.
• Review project specifications and drawings to produce competitive bids.
• Collaborate with sales and engineering to ensure smooth handover of won projects.
• Evaluate project requirements, scope and technical details to ensure comprehensive estimates.
• Monitor project budgets during the tender phase and keep estimates within defined limits.
• Maintain accurate records of estimates, tenders and related communications.
• Provide detailed reports on project performance and costing accuracy to senior management.
• Stay up‑to‑date with market trends, competitor pricing and new technologies.
• Identify pricing and delivery risks and propose mitigation solutions.

Required profile

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent industry experience (desirable).
• Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Effective negotiation and communication skills.
