Electrical Maintenance Engineer / Semi‑Skilled Electrician

About the role

This permanent position is based in Heywood and involves hands‑on electrical maintenance within a manufacturing environment. You will support the safe and efficient operation of production machinery, control panels and workshop equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Control panel and electrical wiring
• Electrical installation and maintenance of machinery
• Fault finding and breakdown repairs
• Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
• General factory electrical maintenance
• Supporting welding and fabrication equipment

Required profile

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, fabrication or industrial setting
• Knowledge of electrical wiring, control panels and industrial machinery
• Ability to read electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving abilities
• Commitment to working safely
• Desirable: electrical qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or equivalent)
• Experience with welding or fabrication machinery is a plus
• Familiarity with motors, relays, contactors, sensors and VSDs

What we offer

• Permanent contract
• £15‑19 per hour (DOE)
• 37‑hour week (Mon‑Thu 7 am‑3:30 pm, Fri 7 am‑12:30 pm)
