Electrical Service Engineer – Motion Control Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Service Engineer to join a leading engineering firm supporting marine, defence, aerospace, nuclear and industrial clients. The role involves delivering motion‑control projects both from our service centre and on‑site at customer locations across the South West of England.

Key responsibilities

• Provide hands‑on electrical engineering support for motion‑control, automation and hydraulic/fluid‑power projects.
• Diagnose and resolve faults on single‑phase and three‑phase systems using PLC, HMI and SCADA tools.
• Install, test, commission and maintain motion‑control equipment and associated electrical panels.
• Collaborate with design teams to develop, implement and improve project solutions.
• Work closely with Service Centre Leads to ensure projects meet quality, safety and compliance standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Electrical Engineer or Technician in industrial or marine environments.
• Strong fault‑finding and diagnostic abilities on complex electrical systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small engineering team.

Required skills

• PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• HMI configuration and operation.
• SCADA software across multiple manufacturers.
• Knowledge of single‑phase and three‑phase electrical systems.
• Motion‑control system integration.
• Automation, hydraulic and fluid‑power fundamentals.
• Electrical panel assembly and wiring.
