Electrical Shift Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer to join our food manufacturing plant near Letchworth. The role involves maintaining and improving electrical systems on a rotating 4‑on/4‑off shift, reporting to the Maintenance Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventative maintenance on production equipment.
• Perform electrical fault finding on PLCs, motors, control panels and production lines.
• Respond to breakdowns and support new machinery installations.
• Contribute to engineering projects and drive continuous improvement.
• Identify and resolve recurring issues with long‑term solutions.
• Work a 4‑on/4‑off rotating shift covering days and nights.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a multiskilled maintenance engineer.
• City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
• Strong mechanical and electrical competence.
• Confidence in electrical and PLC fault finding.
