Electrical Shift Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an Electrical Shift Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturer at its highly automated production facility in Middleton, Greater Manchester. You will be responsible for electrical maintenance, fault finding and planned preventative maintenance on a range of automated production machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out electrical maintenance, fault finding and planned preventative maintenance across automated production equipment.
• Maximise equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Respond to breakdowns and provide reactive maintenance on shift.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the site.
• Work independently, managing your workload during shift patterns.

Required profile

• Electrical maintenance experience within an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Hands‑on experience with planned preventative, reactive maintenance and breakdown response.
• Ability to work independently on shift.
• NVQ Level 2 or above in an engineering discipline.
• Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting.

Required skills

• Electrical fault‑finding and diagnostics.
• PLC fault finding.
• Knowledge of motors, drives, sensors and inverters.
• Familiarity with conveyors, pneumatic systems and automated machinery.
