Electrical Shift Technician (4 on 4 off)

About the role

Join a leading engineering company that is investing heavily in growth and innovation. You will work on a 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern, covering both day and night shifts, maintaining a wide range of plant and equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across diverse plant and equipment.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise disruption to operations.
• Support equipment reliability and availability through effective maintenance practices.
• Identify and report spare‑parts requirements.
• Work in line with safe systems of work, SOPs and risk assessments.
• Contribute to a multi‑skilled engineering team and undertake further training as required.

Required profile

• Strong electrical engineering background.
• Qualification to ONC level (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
• Experience with control systems, including PLCs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical circuit diagrams.
• Experience with motors and variable speed drives.
• Proactive and safety‑focused approach to maintenance.
• Willingness to develop multi‑skilled capabilities.
• Full UK driving licence (experience with container handling or crane equipment is advantageous but not essential).

Required skills

• ONC level qualification (or equivalent).
• PLC control systems.
• Electrical circuit diagram interpretation.
• Motor maintenance.
• Variable speed drive (VSD) operation.
