Electrical Shift Technician – 4 on/4 off

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Electrically biased Shift Technician to join our coffee manufacturing factory in Dalston, Cumbria. This permanent position reports to the Manufacturing Maintenance Manager and works a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, then 4 days off).

Key responsibilities

• Respond to breakdowns across manufacturing, filling & packing, and industrial services to maximise production output.
• Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance tasks while considering cost, efficiency, quality and compliance with Nestlé standards.
• Maintain and update technical documentation and support site initiatives such as HACCP, ISO9002 and CDM.
• Raise purchase orders and coordinate with the Maintenance Coordinator to keep stock levels within budget.
• Support remedial actions arising from engineering compliance audits.

Required profile

• Electrically biased Engineering Technician with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent apprenticeship in an FMCG/manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience with pneumatics, pumps, motors, valve manifolds, homogenisers, pasteurisers, separators, blowing systems and vibratory sieves.
• Logical fault‑finding ability, sense of urgency and adaptability to changing production priorities.
• Proficient computer literacy for accurate administrative and compliance reporting.

Required skills

• 18th Edition certification, Minor Works and Compex qualifications.
• PLC programming (Rockwell) and instrumentation knowledge (BEAMEX) – preferred.
• Experience working in confined spaces, at height, high‑pressure pipework and ATEX/DSEAR environments.
• Hands‑on knowledge of spray dryers and evaporators.
