Electrician – Marine Installations (Glasgow)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a qualified Electrician to join the electrical team responsible for installing power and control systems on Type 26 frigates. The role is based onsite in Glasgow (Govan and Scotstoun) and involves working on cutting‑edge naval vessels.

Key responsibilities

• Install a variety of cables (multi‑core, single‑core, coaxial) and electrical equipment such as junction boxes, fuse panels, consoles, transformers and switches.
• Terminate cables and mount electrical components to trade standards.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with shipbuilding teams to ensure timely completion of installations.
• Maintain compliance with safety, quality, PUWER and COSHH regulations.

Required profile

• Completed a Modern Apprenticeship (SVQ Level 3) or equivalent trade qualification.
• Holder of a SJIB card.
• Experience in marine installations or major industrial environments.
• Familiarity with risk assessments, tag‑out and proving‑dead procedures.
• Ability to read trade drawings and follow technical instructions.
