Electrician – Secure Prison Facility (Millom)

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to join the facilities team at a secure prison in Millom, North West England. The role provides a stable, long‑term position with structured working patterns and clear progression opportunities.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned and preventive maintenance across electrical systems.
• Diagnose faults and complete repairs.
• Undertake minor installation works and component replacements.
• Conduct inspections and testing in line with regulations.
• Complete maintenance records and reports accurately.
• Support general maintenance and operational requirements.
• Work within strict Health & Safety procedures in a prison environment.

Required profile

• City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent in Electrical Installation (Level 2+) or higher.
• 18th Edition certification (or willingness to update).
• Experience in maintenance and fault finding.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
• Basic IT skills.
• Flexible approach to working patterns, including weekends.
• Desirable knowledge of fire alarm and CCTV systems.

Required skills

• City & Guilds NVQ Level 2+ Electrical Installation.
• 18th Edition electrical certification.
• Maintenance and fault‑finding techniques.
• Fire alarm system knowledge.
• CCTV system knowledge.
• Basic IT proficiency.
